Delicious Meals and Recipes for Father’s Day

13 June, 2016

It is now a tradition in many countries of the world: the 3rd Sunday of June, we celebrate our dads. Whether or not you’ve already found or not a gift for Dad, I invite you to celebrate with family.

Like Mother’s Day, the origin of Father’s Day dates back to the 1910s in the United States. Specifically, Father’s Day has its origins in two events that took place in the US early last century. The first, in Fairmount, West Virginia, in 1908 and the second independently of the first, in Spokane, Washington, in 1910. In both cases, religious groups wanted to honour the figure of the father. Unlike Mother’s Day, Father’s Day took some time to catch on. It was several decades before this celebration, which was ridiculed at first, gained recognition with the formation of a national committee in the United States in charge of the promotion in the 1930s. In 1966, President Jognson proclaimed the third Sunday of June, Father’s Day.

Since then, Father’s Day has made it onto the calendars of almost every country, without necessarily becoming an official holiday, but rather an important commercial holiday. In many Catholic countries, since the Middle Ages, fathers have been celebrated on March 19th, the day of Saint Joseph, who is known as the father of Jesus.

To help you prepare your meal on Father’s Day, we’ve put together two menus (where the shopping list is already done) and a list of 10 recipes that are well suited for the occasion. With all these ideas, you will surely enjoy a delightful time with the family!
