Whole wheat and vegetable pasta

To complete the tour of novelties in the pasta department we will discuss pasta which, while being wheat-based, differs from ordinary pasta.

Coloured wheat pasta with vegetables

Pasta that displays a beautiful green or red color is enriched with vegetable powder. Despite their pretty colors, they do not contain more vitamins than regular pasta. Fun for kids, this colorful pasta doesn’t replace a serving of vegetables.

Whole wheat pasta

Pasta from whole wheat or ancient types of wheat such as spelt and kamut are taking up more and more space on supermarket shelves. They are not suitable for people with celiac disease or IBS, but, being richer in fiber than durum wheat pasta, they allow us to increase our fiber intake without much effort. They are darker than regular pasta, grainier, and more pronounced in taste. It is therefore advisable to serve them with a more full-bodied sauce at first.
