Menopause and Low Energy: Manon’s Testimonial

September 4, 2026 , ,

Always active and athletic, Manon was unprepared for the many changes menopause would bring to her daily life. Weight gain, changes in appetite, and — above all — a significant drop in energy led her to seek answers to better understand her body’s new needs.

After several unsuccessful attempts, she turned to SOSCuisine for guidance from a dietitian. This step not only helped her regain her energy but also allowed her to approach this new stage of life with greater peace of mind.

« I am a fairly athletic person. I have been skiing for over 50 years and am also a ski patroller; I assist people in distress on the mountain where I work and accompany them to medical facilities when necessary. In my daily life, I am also a first aid instructor and the mother of two grown children. I have always been active and fit, but menopause has dramatically changed my body. My appetite had changed significantly, as had my energy levels, and I didn’t really understand why. In particular, I was experiencing sudden, intense cravings. They were almost like the ones I’d had during my pregnancies. Except that this time, obviously, I wasn’t pregnant!

But what bothered me the most was my drop in energy. Around three in the afternoon, I became practically non-functional. All I wanted to do was go to sleep. Yet, I was still in good shape. So, I didn’t understand why I felt so tired.

Before turning to SOSCuisine, I had tried at least four different methods. In particular, I spent periods of time tracking everything I ate and all the physical activity I did each day. It had become very tedious. I had also consulted my doctor and tried appetite-suppressing medication, but it made no difference. People kept telling me I needed to change my lifestyle — but that was exactly what I was trying to do! (Laughs) What I really needed to understand was that, at this stage of my life, my needs had changed and I had to put together my meals differently.

I was already familiar with SOSCuisine, as the site frequently appeared when I searched for recipes online. My parents had also subscribed to it. My mother was diabetic, and my father—who didn’t really know how to cook—found SOSCuisine much easier to manage. So, I revisited the site for my own needs and found it just as useful.
