The taste of spring

March 21, 2010 ,

Spring arrived yesterday! According to astronomy, this season starts with the spring equinox, (from the Latin aequinoctium or aequus meaning ‘equal’ and nox meaning ‘night’). It signifies the first of two specific moments in the year when day and night are equal in length.

Moreover, for the last couple of days, we’ve been getting more than 12 hours of sunshine. And the days will continue to grow longer in the Northern hemisphere up until the summer solstice, which is around June 21st. If you’re like me, you’ll probably be less interested in cooking stews and soups now. I know I would rather be thinking of setting up the barbecue as soon as possible. Long live spring!
